The Connecting with the Arts Learning Community explores the broad array of cultural offerings available at the University of Connecticut. Students will learn about the various art exhibitions and fine and performing arts programs on campus designed to enhance their educational experience. They will also live on the same residence hall floor as the Fine Arts Learning Community students who are Fine Arts majors.
Connecting with the Arts Seminar
The Connecting with the Arts seminar helps students stay connected with their artistic interests and activities or allows students to explore new interests in the arts. The class meets once a week, and focuses on activities such as:
- tours of exhibitions, presenting and producing venues on the UConn campus including the Benton Museum, the Contemporary Art Gallery, the Jorgensen Gallery, the Connecticut Repertory Theatre (including the Harriet S. Jorgensen Theatre, Nafe Katter Theatre, the Mobius and Studio Theatres), The Ballard Institute & Museum of Puppetry, and the Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts;
- obtaining program overviews of season presentations for all exhibition, theatrical and presenting spaces on campus presented by campus venue directors;
- attending select programs; and
- opportunities to meet and interact with visiting artists as well as artist/faculty members from UConn and surrounding communities.
