Floor Mentor Mid-Year Self-Evaluation

Each Floor Mentor is required to submit a self-evaluation of their performance no later than Monday, December 9, 2024.

This evaluation was created utilizing a myriad of UConn resources from multiple offices, including the Center for Career Development, First Year Experience, Student Employment and Human Resources, as well as the National Association of Colleges & Employers (NACE) Career Readiness Competencies at https://www.naceweb.org/ and Floor Mentor Job Description.

  • Maintains a strong presence on the floor(s), is communicative and receptive when students reach out, holds consistent open hours or communicates when they are available for students, helps connect students to opportunities and resources on campus
  • Is dependable and available, completes assigned obligations, meets deadlines, carries out instruction and follows through, communicates when expectations cannot be met, arrives on time and as scheduled for obligations, respects confidentiality
  • Exhibits self-motivation to initiate and prioritize tasks independently, can see or anticipate needs and work to address them without being asked, willing to take on challenges with passion and positive energy, does not require constant supervision, goes above and beyond expectations when minimum requirements are completed
  • Conducts themselves in accordance with the UConn Code of Conduct, approaches their role with positivity and high levels of accountability, demonstrates effective work habits and sound ethical decision-making skills
  • Can leverage sound reasoning to analyze a situation or task and make decisions which align with the program mission but challenge the status quo and demonstrate originality, innovation and creativity
  • Displays proficiency in articulating both oral and written communication/thoughts/ideas with any person or group, listens effectively, maintains regular contact with members, properly utilizes social media for LC needs
  • Builds strong working relationships, especially with the LC Director, Resident Assistant(s), other mentors and other LC Team faculty/staff that are fruitful and respectful and value others' perspectives, shows consideration for constituents' needs when making decisions and carrying out duties, prepares for team meetings and actively participates when present, contributes unique ideas to team goals
  • Inspires others to achieve by leveraging group strengths and facilitating rewarding experiences for peers, organizes, prioritizes, and delegates work, demonstrates trust, innovation and empathy when tackling expectations for the role, serves as a positive role model for others
  • Values, respects and celebrates differences in thought, experience, and identity, demonstrates curiosity and excitement when interacting with people of all ages, races, cultures, sexual orientations, genders, religions and any other identifying qualities which inform the individual experience, supports and prioritizes inclusiveness, diversity and globalism in the role
