Tomas Vence

Tomas is a Physiology and Neurobiology Major on the Pre-med track. He is an alum of Public Health House Learning community, and this is his first year of being a part of the Learning Community Executive Council. Previously, Tomas was a part of the Learning Community council, within the Diversity and Inclusion committee. Tomas serves now as the Diversity and Inclusion Chair for the Executive Council. Outside of the Learning Community environment, Tomas is involved with the First Year Experience program, working as a TA, as well as community outreach chair for the American Medical Students Association. One fun fact about him is he loves to play soccer and basketball in his free time and can talk anything about sports anytime!

- Work with him on prioritizing inclusiveness, collaboration, and inter LC interactions
- Take deep consideration for diverse LC representation at Learning Community wide events
- Help ensure that other chairs take into account these diverse representations when planning for events and programs, keeping diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion in mind
- Work With him directly for projects on:
- Global culture conferences
- Co-lead for LC talks
- Other Diversity and inclusion programming, events and trainings
- Help act as a liaison between the learning community office and the UConn Office of Diversity and Inclusion, as well as other UConn organization doing important diversity and inclusion work
- Help increase visibility of diverse LC student experiences online (Instagram, the website, etc.)
- As well as through recruitment events (Open houses, LC showcase, Panels, etc.)
- Help with collaboration with wellness Chair:
- Initiate an “LC Listening Tour”
- Gather information and feedback directly from LC students
